    * * * The Holiday Challenge * * *

    Monday, November 25th - Friday, January 3rd!!

This is going to be a fun challenge, and some teams are even planning on losing weight throughout the challenge! We are excited to see amazing things out of you all, let's make this holiday season GREAT, without expanding out waistlines!

    HOLIDAY CHALLENGE RULES:

The goal is to help keep each other accountable during the holiday season. As you know, this time of year is typically filled with parties (i.e. missed workouts), not-the-best food decisions, as well as more alcohol consumption, leading to a little more insulation than we would like! Let's help support each other through this season, so come January 1st we don't have to "get off the Holiday weight" or "get more consistent with my training"...know what we mean?!

Here is how it's gonna work:

    • Teams are made up of 2-4 people and the success of the team depends on EVERYONE! Support and keep each other accountable for workouts and food choices!
    • The challenge will run from Monday, November 25th - Friday, January 3rd.
    • You will all weigh in together at the beginning as well as the week of Dec 16th AND at the end of the challenge.....we will take the total team weight. The 3 teams that have gained the least, but NO more than 1.5lbs or 2 inches per person will be in the running for prizes!
    • ***UPDATE*** The original idea was to create a fun way to keep everyone on track through the holidays and to avoid gaining a lot of weight. It has come to our attention that several teams are planning on losing weight (AND WE LOVE THAT!!!!) So with that in mind, in order to keep it fair in comparison to smaller & larger athletes, team weight loss will be based on percentage of body weight.

    GMOs? What are they?

    Genetically Modified Organisms.

    Yes, they are ALREADY here.

YES, they are a serious DANGER!!!

    (from http://www.march-against-monsanto.com/)

On May 25, activists around the world will unite to March Against Monsanto.

    Why do we march?

    • Research studies have shown that Monsanto’s genetically-modified foods can lead to serious health conditions such as the development of cancer tumors, infertility and birth defects.
    • In the United States, the FDA, the agency tasked with ensuring food safety for the population, is steered by ex-Monsanto executives, and we feel that’s a questionable conflict of interests and explains the lack of government-led research on the long-term effects of GM products.
    • Recently, the U.S. Congress and president collectively passed the nicknamed “Monsanto Protection Act” that, among other things, bans courts from halting the sale of Monsanto’s genetically-modified seeds.
    • For too long, Monsanto has been the benefactor of corporate subsidies and political favoritism. Organic and small farmers suffer losses while Monsanto continues to forge its monopoly over the world’s food supply, including exclusive patenting rights over seeds and genetic makeup.
    • Monsanto's GM seeds are harmful to the environment; for example, scientists have indicated they have contributed to Colony Collapse Disorder among the world's bee population.
